Description
Cinderella, the fairy‑tale of fairy tales, will be performed by the Sibelius Academy Opera to illuminate a dim November in the Musiikkitalo Sonore Hall. Jules Massenet’s music transports us to a magical fairy‑tale world suitable for both children and adults.
Lucette is a Cinderella who is lulled into a world of dreams, destined to stay home alone even when the King throws a party. The fairy godmother, however, steps in and encourages Cinderella to follow her own will. Jules Massenet’s opera is based on Charles Perrault’s classic Cinderella story.
Cinderella is a story of acceptance, outsiderhood and the courage to be oneself. The performance promises a charming and beautiful opera experience seasoned with humor.
The work is sung in French, but a Finnish narrator and subtitles help younger audiences follow the story. The performance is suitable for ages 10 and up.
