Description
After Anger is a performance about the possibility of compassion. After Anger draws before the viewer powerful, topical images of drifting into anger and letting go of it. It tells of loneliness, rejection, the desire to belong - but also of the possibility of change. Of hope. Of the courage to choose differently. Of the light that guides away from darkness when the limit is reached and a life pierced by anger becomes cramped. After Anger is also a story about family, family ties - and sisterhood. Jaana and Lili are sisters. Their experiences of the past and of their home country Finland differ in many respects. Can they still find their way to each other? In addition to the sisters, the stage features stories of former haters. "Don't get me wrong, I didn't even consider myself a terrible racist." The performance sheds light on prejudices, drifting into extremism and the possibility of compassion. It is a fascinating cavalcade of life's different shades. It sprouts from dark to light and from cold to warm. The play is based on interviews conducted by scriptwriter-director Elina Izarra and photographer Katja Tähjä. Participants included people who have spread hatred and those who have encountered it, researchers, and people who help start a new life.
