Description
Poiesis Collective: HÄMÄRINKÄINEN A family puppet theatre tale celebrating kindness and magic. Hämärinkäinen is a small character who weaves twilight on their loom for the midwinter celebration. They work together with other mysterious creatures of winter. People are very busy with their own festive preparations, especially the florist Keikander. Keikander does not like the arrival of darkness, because then the flowers don't get ready fast enough. But what would happen if Hämärinkäinen couldn't weave their twilight? And how will the little flower weaver Flora get her biggest job done? The Hämärinkäinen performance encourages slowing down and forgetting the rush. In the end, different creatures, animals, and people learn to respect each other. Together they prepare the midwinter celebration. The performance brings the magical creatures of Mila Teräs's and Karoliina Pertamo's original work to life as puppet theatre characters. The work suits everyone who longs for fairytale glow and winter wonders. It is not confessional and refreshingly deviates from the usual Christmas imagery. Hämärinkäinen is a Christmas-time performance for everyone regardless of religion – the work creates its own mythology that is equally new and open to all. In Poiesis Collective's children's works, we dive from the everyday world into a fairytale and back. Our works deal with strong emotions, and one can experience enchantment from beauty. Even the small can find their courage, and good prevails.
