Youth Education Matinees at the Sibelius Academy
The Youth Education student and chamber music matinees are a series of concerts by the Sibelius Academy’s youth education classical music students. The aim of the youth education program is to bring musically talented school‑age children and young people into purposeful music teaching. The young performers come from across Finland.
The concert programs consist mainly of brilliant solo pieces by young musicians. With varied programmes they reflect both the high level of our youth education students and the diverse range of instruments we offer.
Chamber music and its study opens a world where individuality and community meet in the best possible way. Playing together develops, connects and enriches not only the musicians but also the listeners. In the youth education program chamber music is studied primarily in Järvenpää, at weekend courses held at the Kallio‑Kuninkala course centre, after which concerts belonging to this series are organized in Helsinki.
The length of each matinee varies, roughly 60–120 minutes.
