Description
Soloists on stage will include Teemu Roivainen, Tomi Metsäketo, Lauri Mikkola and Mikael Saari, as well as a 7‑member orchestra composed of the country's best musicians, conducted by pianist Jukka Nykänen. The large white screen brings memories to life: over a hundred pictures and videos create a touching and unique atmosphere.
Tapani Kansa was an exceptionally prolific and versatile artist. He recorded over 600 songs, writing the lyrics to 80 himself, and remained at the top from decade to decade. During his career Kansa earned 14 gold records and one platinum record, and was also awarded a Special Emma. His repertoire ranged from schlager to rock and roll, disco music to the poetry of Eino Leino, always with a recognizable blend of sensitivity and power. His breakthrough as a singer came at age 19, when Kansa made the translated version of “Delilah” a chart‑topper, even though it was originally released on the B‑side of a single.
The tribute concert will feature songs from all his gold records as well as many other enduring hits, such as R‑A‑K‑A‑S, Hafanana, Kalajoen hiekat, Rokkivaari Hotanen, Poika varjoisalta kujalta, Amado mio, and unforgettable tangos like Hopeinen kuu and the passionately interpreted Argentine tangos, which Tapani performed with unique intensity. One could say the concert is chosen by Tapani himself, as the program is based on Tapani Kansa’s celebration concerts, for which he selected the songs.
Warmly welcome to enjoy an unforgettable evening!
Due to audience demand and great interest, the In Our Memories Tapani Kansa Celebration Concert will be repeated on All Saints' Day, Saturday 31 Oct 2026 at 15:00.
