The Mahler Chamber Orchestra presents a collection of folk songs lovingly arranged, a musical wedding gift, and Mozart’s cheerful Clarinet Quintet. “When I work with folk music I am seized by a thrilling joy of discovery.” Modernist composer Luciano Berio gathered folk songs from old records, song collections and folk musicians and wrote flowing accompaniments for the ensemble. Dumbarton Oaks is Igor Stravinsky’s wedding gift to the hosts of the eponymous house, the American art patrons Robert and Mildred Bliss.
