Description
A concert celebrating singer‑songwriter Lyyti, aka Lydia Lehtola's 10‑year career and the publication of a songbook, featuring the artist's timeless and sharply contemporary songs about change and flourishing. Lyyti is a singer‑songwriter known for her colourful poetic music and songs that bridge generations. The Seeds of a New Age concert brings together Lyyti's most beloved songs and rarely heard gems. On the stage of the concert hall, besides Lyyti and her familiar live band, a string trio, the Sibelius Academy girls’ choir and guest musicians will appear. In the hands of this orchestra the songs shine in full splendor. The Music House organ also sounds in the concert, fairy‑tale visuals fill the hall’s screen, and something new is heard during the evening. Characteristic of Lyyti's music are lyrical, cleverly called "nerve‑twisting" lyrics, original compositions and vibrant live energy, which the praised band supports admirably. Award‑winning tracks such as "Mihin voi soittaa?" and "Ennätyshelteet" have become emblematic of the young generation’s experience of growing up in an uncertain world situation. Yet finding hope even from seeds buried in the underworld is the core message of Lyyti's music. Ten years ago Lyyti, i.e. Lydia Lehtola, graduated as a musician and rose in her hometown Joensuu to the stage of the now‑defunct Cultural Café Laituri to perform her own songs for the first time. The same year, 2016, the artist moved to Helsinki to study literature, started assembling a band and uploaded her first songs to the SoundCloud platform. Since then Lyyti has steadily risen in the awareness of Finnish music and lyric lovers. The debut album Meitä ei ole kutsuttu was released in 2020. After that Lyyti has released three full‑length albums and has become one of the brightest voices of a new generation of songwriters. Lyyti has been awarded, among others, the Artist of the Year title at the Indie Awards gala (2021), the Juha Vainio Society’s Songwriter of the Year award (2023) and the Karjalainen Newspaper’s Year’s Cultural Achievement award (2024). Lyyti’s albums have been nominated for the Emma Awards four times, and the latest album Pidän sulle paikkaa also became a candidate for the prestigious Teosto award. The concert also celebrates the publication of a songbook compiled from Lyyti's songs. The books will be on sale at the concert. "The idea of a songbook has been brewing for years, because there are many requests for sheet music of my songs. Now the time felt right to gather ten years of songs between covers. I hope that with the songbook they can continue their life in the hands of all kinds of players, in personal and collective moments. Music House is certainly the finest possible place to celebrate all this, and the concert concentrates the soft core of my music. In the middle of the darkest season I want to invite the audience to rest with me and notice everything that stirs in the dark." Lyyti: Seeds of a New Age, Music House Concert Hall, 5 December 2026.
