Description
The ten‑member Les Fleurs Noires is an orchestra of Argentine and French musicians that defines its style as “tangos aumentados” – tango in new dimensions. The ensemble performed in Finland for the first time in autumn 2025, enchanting an international audience of music professionals at the WOMEX Worldwide Music Expo in Tampere. Composed solely of female musicians, Les Fleurs Noires – “black flowers” in Finnish – creates fresh interpretations of the tango tradition originating from Argentina, traditionally dominated by men. From diverse roots, the avant‑garde tango music receives new harmonic colours and expressive forms in the hands of Argentine composer and pianist Andrea Marsili. Influences also come from other harmonic worlds: experimental music, post‑minimalism and jazz.
The program promises a unique, delicate yet intense concert experience, with the ensemble’s sound complemented by two guest soloists: singer Mandy Lerouge’s powerful interpretation and percussionist Vanesa García’s rich rhythms, adding their unique spices alongside bandoneon‑harmonica, piano and strings.
