Description
Pianists Mariola Aniolek and Niina Ranta bring this autumn to Musiikkitalo a program written for two pianos, stemming from their strong enthusiasm for contemporary music. The concert offers a fascinating glimpse into a two‑piano repertoire that is rarely heard in Finland.
György Ligeti’s Three Pieces for Two Pianos (1976) and John Adams’s Hallelujah Junction (1996) form the lively and energetic core of the concert, around which a journey into post‑1900 and present‑day music is built.
The program moves through the terrain between art music, rhythm music and experimentation – inviting the audience to join an unexpected adventure in the world of endless tonal colors of two pianos.
The concert’s realization has been kindly supported by the Helsinki Musiikkitalo Foundation and the Teosto composition grant committee.
