Description
Myllyteatteri and Helsinki 98's anarchist tragicomedy dives into the dark core of a burdened mind HUOLTO 4:18 is an anarchist tragicomedy created in collaboration between Myllyteatteri and Helsinki 98, where humor bursts into the air and reveals something we don't want to see. The performance opens a brutal picture of the mental landscape of a single institution worker in a time when the resources of the precarious class are finally exhausted. The site-specific performance built in the old Vuosaari high school invites the viewer into the middle of a crumbling school building. It breathes dust and the past. On stage, we see one person: an old clown and current maintenance worker Myrsky Hartikainen. The school is closed and his own future is threatened. What remains is only a storage full of memories – and insomnia that eats at the edges of reason. The performance draws inspiration from Kae Tempest's album Let Them Eat Chaos, Todd Phillips' film Joker, and Sarah Kane's play 4.48 Psychosis. The multidisciplinary team consists of makers of object theater, performance art, clowning, and absurd theater, creating a stage language that is simultaneously grotesque, touchingly unpredictable, and sharply precise. At the core of the work is dark clown aesthetics: nothing is sacred and everything is possible. This clown does not comfort – the clown reveals.
